If you’re looking to work in commercial kitchen environments in restaurants, hotels, cafes, care facilities or schools, this pre-apprenticeship course could be just the kickstart your career needs. The course is delivered in partnership with Hospitality Group Training (HGT) the largest employer of hospitality apprentices in WA.

You’ll gain practical food preparation and cookery skills through work placements in professional kitchens. Upon completion of this course, you will have the skills required to begin a commercial cookery or chef apprenticeship.

As part of this course, HGT will match you with hospitality employers where you will gain work experience. On completion of this, successful and suitable graduates will be guaranteed apprenticeship positions.

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

OLNA or NAPLAN 9 Band 8 C Grades in Year 10 English and Maths or equivalent Certificate I or Certificate II


There will be a compulsory orientation session for enrolled students on Monday 26th October from to 12pm.   

Course Dates and Timetable

Course starts Monday 31st November to Thursday 8th December 2022 after which there will be a holiday break.
Classes will recommence Monday 9th January for an additional three weeks.  

The course will be run over 4 days per week, Monday to Thursday, generally from 8.00am – 4.30pm with evening classes on Thursday to 9.00pm.
