Skills for Education and Employment (SEE)

Delivering skills for employment and education

What is  SEE?

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program provides language, literacy and numeracy training to eligible job seekers, to help them to participate more effectively in training or in the labour force.

The program is delivered across Australia, from metropolitan and regional areas, right through to remote communities.

The program caters for job seeker groups with literacy and/or numeracy training needs including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, youth, people with disabilities, mature aged people, and job seekers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business.

Short courses and skill sets

Short courses

North Metropolitan TAFE offers a variety of short courses and skill sets.

See below to browse our comprehensive list of offerings. Application and enrolment information is included on individual course pages.

Skill sets

North Metropolitan TAFE skill sets are a type of short course that provides certification for specific workplace skills. Skill sets are made up of one or more units of competency which link to an industry need or regulatory requirement, such as a licence. When you complete a skill set, you will receive a statement of attainment. In some cases this may count towards a higher qualification with further study.  Skill sets are usually identified in the course title.

Education and employment

Technology and digital skills

In this modern world, digital literacy is very important to be competitive in the labour force. All our SEE participants will have the opportunity to experience technology hands-on and work closely with an experienced facilitator.

Learning will be an action based project, in which participants will gain confidence by working together. Participants will use a range on North Metropolitan TAFE technologies such as PCs and multifunction devices. All computers have access to the full Microsoft Office suit.
