Civil Construction

The construction industry is a major sector of the Western Australian workforce and economy, encompassing a huge variety of career pathways. North Metropolitan TAFE’s qualifications are closely aligned to building, allowing you to work in a wide range of projects, such as bridge construction and maintenance, pipe laying, road construction and maintenance, road marking, tunnel construction and general civil construction.

You will gain skills and knowledge in civil detail drafting and design, engineering mathematics and statics, and strength of materials. You will also learn about project and risk management, preparing detailed designs of concrete, timber and steel structures, managing information or knowledge based systems and applying basic engineering principles and concepts.
