Our Perth studios are based in the creative Perth Cultural Centre in the heart of Northbridge. The courses offered here are focused on creating digital art for the entertainment industry. You'll learn how to create Concept Art, 2D and 3D character animation, digital character sculpting, modelling and rigging, world building and asset creation for animated films and games. The courses are delivered in a practical learning environment, using the latest industry standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Unity and Unreal Engine. In the Advanced Diploma qualification, you may choose to specialise in either Animation or Games Design. As a graduate, you'll be equipped to be competitive in the local, national and global market, using the same software tools and work practices employed by top animation and games studios all over the world.
If creating animation films or TV series, or awesome visual effects for live action blockbusters, then then Animation and Visual Effects at our Joondalup studios is the place to be. You will train in specialised PC labs including a state-of-the-art motion capture suite. You’ll develop the latest skills in 2D and 3D animation, visual effects (VFX) and post-production, storyboarding, design, creative writing and audio production.
As an Advanced Diploma student, you will work on feature films and TV series for major production houses such as Netflix, Warner Bros, Hulu and Disney, gaining real-world experience, an amazing portfolio and actual credits on feature films.

This broad based program covers aspects of administration to help you on your way to a career working in galleries, museums, studios, tourism bureaus, theatres or art and design retail outlets.
You could also be working in local council information bureaus or markets.
Our Certificate III in Arts Administration and Cultural Administration program is delivered as a one year employer-based traineeship, and North Metropolitan TAFE is the only TAFE from Albany to Geraldton to offer this qualification. You will receive training in the workplace, allowing you to you earn and learn at the same time. Completion of this course will open up pathways to further study or employment in the creative industries or tourism fields.

This could be 2D or 3D digital art, 2D/3D animation, or a game. You will gain a well-developed command of materials, process and technique.

In this skill set you will produce a digital art project of your choice facilitated by a lecturer acting as your 'producer'. Your project may be 2D or 3D digital art, 2D/3D animation, or a game.
You will be coached in finishing your work to a professional standard and setting up your own brand and identity. You will gain a well-developed command of materials, process and technique; and present your work to the public. The final presentation may be physical or virtual/online, and will attempt to establish a market for your product.

This twelve-month course is the last stage on your pathway towards a career in Animation and Visual Effects. This course is designed for students who have completed the CUA51020-AC87 – Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation and Visual Effects) or university media graduates.
A large proportion of this course has you working in a studio environment on real professional productions for industry including TV series and feature films. You’ll also highly refine your skills in 3D animation, 2D animation, sound, and writing.
You will learn new skills in pre-visualization and virtual production, and undertake the process of developing an idea and pitching it.
Graduates take with them a high-level showreel comprising of AAA level work, feature film credits, experience working with real production clients, and the skills and confidence to work in the Animation and Visual Effects industry.

Become a confident entry level animator
Continuing on from the CUA41220-AC86 - Certificate IV in Screen and Media (Animation and Visual Effects) you will further refine your skills in 3D animation, 2D animation, post production and visual effects, sound, and writing.
You will be introduced to Real-time rendering and Virtual environments using the Unreal game engine, you'll also gain skills to prepare you for working as an artist in the industry, and undertake your first animation production in a team environment.
Upon completion you will be ready to enter the next stage: CUA60620-AC88 – Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation and Visual Effects).

It is designed to help you be more competitive in marketing yourself, to find employment and to work in a chosen field.
You'll undertake self-guided learning activities to facilitate skill development for a particular project of your choosing. For example, you may choose to develop a comic, animation, game, 3D character or VFX sequence. You'll have access to industry standard software and hardware, and be mentored by an experienced lecturer.
