This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills program, through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession.

This Certificate III in Mining Exploration will help prepare you for entry level jobs in the mining industry such as a pit or underground technician, drilling offsider or geological field assistant.

You'll learn how to collect and analyse geological samples, record information and look after the practical tasks involved in servicing a remote field operation.

You'll also learn mining computing, first aid and mining methods.

​It is strongly advised that you obtain a manual licence and complete a four wheel drive course to improve your employment prospects.

You can enrol in this course if you are under 18. However, mining companies currently only employ people 18 years of age or over.
