This 90 hour training program complies with the requirements for inspector certification. An independent Welding Supervisor/Inspection Certification committee with experienced and qualified membership from North Metro TAFE and Western Australian industry, will assess the certification applications.

This is a unique certification course that is not offered anywhere else, comprising theory and practical training necessary to equip an inspector with the necessary skills to carry out full inspection of any fabricated item, component or structure.

Course Outline

Apply & Conduct Fabrication/ Welding Inspection (theory & practical)

The purpose of these units is to apply, conduct and perform fabrication/ welding inspection in order to assess a welded structure that meets the acceptance criteria of specific codes, standard or other document.

This will be achieved by selecting, conducting or verifying appropriate non-destructive tests, establishing and validating welding procedures, ensuring quality assurance is carried out, and monitoring procedures.

These units apply to inspection of welding structures based on knowledge of fabrication/welding, NDT and metallurgy, mechanical properties of welded joints, heat treatment, procedures and performance qualification, safety, quality assurance and national and technical standards. Test procedures and the range of this standard are determined by applicable Australian and/or International standards.
