In this course, you'll learn essential engineering skills such as obtaining geophysical and geological information, and determining what type of drilling equipment and method would be the most cost effective. Studying this course at North Metro will expose you to skilled lecturers and our brand new engineering facilities and equipment. Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Oil and Gas) students study to further levels, including advanced concepts of drilling and the management of the environmental effects of engineering activity.

Your Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Oil and Gas) gives you the skills to begin an exciting career in the oil and gas industry, by the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Have a well developed understanding of the oil and gas industry
  • Take on advanced drilling operations
  • Understand petroleum and physical geology
  • Work in oil refining and chemical processing
  • Understand advanced oil and gas technology and mathematics
  • Manage projects

In addition to the theoretical and practical skills, graduates are also taught the additional general skills they will need in the workplace. These include the importance of presentation, teamwork, report writing and interpersonal and communication skills. This course can lead to careers as a Petroleum Technician or a Petroleum Engineering Associate.

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:
