This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to support information technology activities in the workplace across a range of ICT areas, including programming, website design and management, and technical support.

Our Information Technology qualifications provide you with skills that are relevant to current industry trends and practices.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • work safely and effectively in an ICT environment
  • implement and monitor various operating systems
  • build and develop database applications
  • create programming applications to a client specification using industry tools
  • create user documentation
  • design websites using industry tools
  • build websites using industry standards
  • use social media tools in a collaborative environment for business needs

Your Certificate III gives you the skills to begin a career in ICT or for further study with North Metro TAFE. You may follow a career pathway into the ICT industry including programming, and web based technologies such as web design.

Your Certificate III course prepares you for further study to enhance your career prospects in ICT or for roles such as:

  • ICT user support officer
  • Website designer
  • PC support officer
  • Website administrator

Alternatively you could continue your study with programming, web based technologies or design courses at North Metro TAFE.

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:

Successful completion of this qualification, depending on the stream selected, will provide you with the opportunity to work in basic personal computer (PC) support, basic network/system administration or in first level help desk roles. Possible job roles, depending upon streams taken, include Client Support Officer, Help Desk Technician, ICT Operations Support, IT Technician, PC Support.

Course fees are made up of two components, tuition fees and resource fees.

Tuition fees are determined by multiplying the course fee rate by the nominal hours, which is the number of hours in which an average student could be expected to complete each unit. They are not the hours of training or instruction.

Resource fees are charges for material that are essential to a course or unit, and are purchased by NMT to be used by students during the course.

Fees may vary depending on the units you are enrolled in so an approximate amount has been shown. You will be given the exact amount of your fees at enrolment. Part time student fees will vary depending on the number of units you are enrolled in.
